About Don Peterson On the trail in the San Juans - 2009
Don's interest in photography began shortly after he graduated from the University of Minnesota. He now enjoys photographing scenic landscapes in the San Juan Mountains, rustic ranches on the prairies; and remote canyons and buttes of Arizona and Utah. He is a member of the Camera Guild of Sun City AZ with approximately 170 members. He won many first place awards in the club competitions held from 2008 thru 2012. And won Best-of-Best in three of the six competition categories for 2009, two of six in 2010, and two of six in 2011.
He won first place in the "San Juan Memories" Photo Competition sponsored by the Historical Society of Ouray, CO held in July 2010. He had acceptances and honorable mentions in the Arizona Camera Club Council semi-annual competitions held from February 2009 thru 2012. (ACCC is a conglomerate of many photo clubs surrounding the Phoenix and Tucson areas.) He won Grand Prize in the Western Slope Watchdog Newspaper photo competition in August 2010 for his Colorado Columbine photo posted in gallery here under wildflowers.
Don has a Masters degree in computer science/mathematics. And is skilled in using photo imaging software to bring out the best in the digital photo images. He leads photography workshops and has developed several web sites – one for the Camera Guild of Sun City which shows their award winning images from monthly competitions, see "suncitycameraguild.com". He lives with his wife Marilyn in Montrose, CO and Sun City, AZ.
